    Mexican fruit flies found; orchards face quarantine  Nov 9, 2007
    It is one of the most destructive pests in the world and attacks more than 40 kinds of fruits and vegetables, including citrus, apples, apricots, guavas, peaches, pears, plums, quinces, mangoes, sapotes, and cherimoyas. Female flies puncture fruit and lay from one to 10 eggs just under the skin. (San Diego Union-Tribune -- Business)
