The future treatment of a rare form of cancer (Vulvar cancer) has been enhanced by Helen's courageous endurance of treatments including multiple surgeries, rounds of radiation, hyperbaric oxygen, whirlpool therapies and chemotherapy, which left her with excruciating pain. One of her proudest moments in this battle against cancer was when she finished the "survivors" lap by walking the last 100 yards in the Relay for Life in 2008. (Sioux City Journal, IO)
