    New Way Deadly Food-borne Bacteria Is Spread  Sep 25, 2009
    "Our discovery could have relevance for bacterial pathogens that cause Shigellosis or Rocky Mountain spotted fever, as these bacteria resemble Listeria in their ability to move inside the host cell and spread.". More research is needed, but Ireton says that discovering this mechanism could aid in future therapies and perhaps open a window into understanding how certain bacterial pathogens cause disease.     DCR has reopened Winchester's Shannon Beach and playground: Testing shows no evidence of Shigella bacteria  Sep 9, 2009
    The playground and beach off Mystic Valley Parkway had been closed since Aug. 21 after at least 16 cases of shigellosis, a bacterial infection caused by the shigella bacteria, had been reported among visitors to the facility.
