Health department urges parents to vaccinate Apr 28, 2009 If prevention of potentially life-threatening diseases is not enough to motivate parents to get their children vaccinated, parents should also know that the law requires that every child in North Carolina be vaccinated for diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, poliomyelitis, varicella (chicken pox), hepatitis B, haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), red measles (rubeola), mumps, and rubella.
