NCBA's statement on COOL disappointing to some (99) Oct 22, 2009
McDonald's food service understood this very well when they advertised heavily, following the finding of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Canada, that the chain served only USDA Inspected beef. I believe we all understand that McDonald's created this marketing campaign to address its millions of consumers' concerns regarding the safety of Canadian beef since McDonald's products include not only imported beef, but also Canadian beef. Public Attitudes To New Technology: Lessons For Regulators Oct 13, 2009
Public opinion also is easily swayed by catastrophic events like the Chernobyl accident, which galvanized opposition to nuclear power, and by news like reports of deaths from Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Europe, or from severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) or swine flu (the H1N1 virus). "It's much easier to destroy trust than gain it," Satterfield says, so after an event like a nuclear meltdown or oil spill, leaders need to "take responsibility for any consequences quickly and... Transhumance Helps Vulture Conservation Sep 24, 2009
European health regulations designed to control Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), or Mad Cow Disease, requires all cattle carcasses to be removed from fields, which has led to a significant scarcity of food for carrion birds in Spain, with various impacts on their conservation. Time trends in exposure of cattle to bovine spongiform encephalopathy and cohort effect in France and Italy: value of the classical Age-Period-Cohort approach Sep 18, 2009
APC models were recently used to model the French epidemic assuming that the time trend for BSE was mainly due to a cohort effect in relation to the control measures that may have modified the BSE exposure of cohorts over time. We used a categorical APC analysis which did not require any functional form for the effect of the variables, and examined second differences to estimate the variation of the BSE trend ...
