Beyond the Call returns to Ashland Sep 28, 2007
The Ashland Independent Film Festival and Coming Attractions Theatres will present two special showings of Beyond the Call, the film the festival audience voted their favorite last April, a recent press release announced ... The film will be shown on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Varsity Theatre at 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. All proceeds from the box office of Beyond the Call will benefit the Ashland Independent Film Festivals preparation for the 2008 Festival, scheduled for early April. In the United States the film won the PBS Independent Lens Audience Award 2003, the Audience Award at both the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival and Best Documentary Award at the Ashland Independent Film Festival. McCloy says he's still trying to figure out how to get it into the hands of actor/filmmaker/author Bruce Campbell, who gained fame with director Sam Raimi in the "Evil Dead" cult pictures, and who is among those being feted at the Ashland Independent Film Festival April 12-16. McCloy says this picture will be bigger and better than "Dead Girls."
