    He entered F1 as a test driver for BMW Sauber and competed in one race for the team, as a stand-in for Robert Kubica at the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Fans (me included) kept count on the lap numbers and knew things were OK as they passed 20 and Montoya had opened a nearly two second lead on Martin, we then knew the race was on.
