    While the low numbers are a drastic departure from the seasonal employment that once plagued the local work force and signal a diversified economy, it has made the hunt for talented workers difficult. Staffing agencies, such as Manpower and Personnel Plus Inc., are having a difficult time helping companies fill jobs, because they have a dwindling supply of workers and high demand from local companies.     A Senate committee is exploring the use of labour from Pacific countries to meet the seasonal employment needs of the horticultural industry and other intensive agriculture industries. The Farmers Federation has called for a scheme to cover temporary and peak gaps in the rural labour market. (Sydney Morning Herald)
