So you get incidents and subplots that are a lot tawdrier than what you'd find in a Bob Hope comedy or a Doris Day musical. Even better, censorship couldn't really hurt these films anyway because the movies were at heart nihilistic. (San Francisco Chronicle -- Entertainment)
