    As a method of attack, SQL injection -- a security exploit in which someone maliciously adds Structured Query Language (SQL) code to a Web form input box in an attempt to gain access to resources or make changes to data -- only requires network port 80 to be open, one of the few ports through which even a well-configured firewall will allow traffic.
