    So drivers, PLEASE watch out for us bicyclists, especially in the rain ... Too often the seeming arrogance of hardcore cyclists asserting their completely valid 'right to the road' ends in them being injured or killed.     The Somerville Police Department is keeping an eye out for bicyclists who ride where they shouldn t where the elderly, the stroller-bound, the pregnant and the regular everyday folks are walking. No tickets have been written, and right now we re treating it as an educational tool by only giving out warnings, said Somerville Police Deputy Chief Paul Upton. (Somerville Journal, MA)

    Now, after spending billions in public funds to depress the Central Artery, and with gasoline prices likely to rise again, it seems inexcusable that cyclists (and pedestrians) must use the Greenway at their own risk. Although this opportunity for sustainable transit seems lost, the potential to retrofit the Greenway for safe bicycle commuting and recreation remains. (Boston Globe -- Editorial)
