He attended Mars Hill College in North Carolina as a linebacker and was named an NAIA All-American following his senior season in 1980 after the Lions finished first in the South Atlantic Conference and made it to the national playoffs. Gulledge s first season at Adairsville saw the Tigers go 0-10, but since then, he has led them to four state playoff appearances, two region championships (2000 and 2001) and two region runner-ups.
