Former State Health Officer Dr. Ira Myers Dies Jul 25, 2008
Dr. Myers endowed the Martha and Dorothy Myers Fund for Faculty Development at Judson College in memory of his wife, Dorothy, and his daughter, Dr. Martha Myers, Baptist missionary who was martyred in late 2002 in Yemen. Dr. Ira Myers was 84 years old. (WSJA.com, AL)

He is remembered for his continued support and dedication to many civic organizations in the community, including the Demopolis Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America, Marengo Port Authority, the 17th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, the Judson College Board of Trustees and West Alabama Mental Health, just to name a few.
