    Seven council members listened for over two hours as more than 100 people turned out at Edward Waters College. About 30 people spoke, identifying a wide range of crime factors that included poverty, a lack of jobs, poor education, fatherless homes, health problems, domestic violence and hurdles for offenders re-entering society.     " Trying to help struggling black people find strength to change their condition isn't a new mission for the SCLC. It was, after all, founded in the wake of the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott. When Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man, it led to a boycott that lasted 381 days. It also catapulted the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. - who was the SCLC's first president - into the national spotlight. In the past, the local SCLC chapter had drifted into obscurity, but it has regrouped....
