    Baxter won the NAIA national title in the hammer throw on Thursday, turning in a mark of 198 feet, 9 inches to easily outdistance Clarke College s Emily Brown during the first day of the national tournament at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. Brown, who had been the dominant thrower all season in NAIA, entered the meet with the top throw this season in both the hammer and the shot put and the third highest mark in the discus.
