After months of research, writing, casting and preparation, "Spirits of St. Augustine," an historical play written and directed by two Flagler College instructors, hit the stage May 18 at the Holy Cross Charismatic Orthodox Church on Masters Drive. Lamont became the first Flagler College prospect to be taken in the Major League First-Year Player Draft since 2002 when he was selected Friday by the Detroit Tigers in the 29th round (901 overall). First baseman Wade Lamont, son of Tigers bench coach Gene, was taken in Round 21 out of Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. " Holt, who is 6 feet 2 and 210 pounds, will return to Leesburg after the national championship tournament to play for the Leesburg Lightning, an expansion team in the Florida Collegiate Baseball League that will begin play at Pat Thomas Stadium on June 7. They lucked out when they found a Flagler College student who was fluent in Farsi and English as a Second Language. In her junior year at FSDB, she participated in the drama class, and in the 2006 Miss FSDB pageant she was selected as Miss Congeniality. (The St. Augustine Record)
