The mystery surrounding the death of Chadron State College professor Dr. Steven Haataja deepened Wednesday, after the announcement that autopsy results showed he died of smoke and soot inhalation combined with thermal injuries. Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug said in a news release that forensic pathology and toxicology testing of Haataja s remains led to the determination of the cause of his death.
