    A new study conducted by Central Connecticut State University at the state's request showed that 60 percent of the 49 people convicted of murder statewide in 2004 had no record of previous violence. Only six of the convicted murderers would have been eligible for a longer sentence before committing the murder under a three-strikes law that mandates a life sentence, the study found.     The aviation unit, named for Polish-American Revolutionary War hero, Tadeusz Kosciuszko, helped defend the newly re-constituted Polish nation from early Soviet attacks in World War II.
