    It's a nod to former first lady Lucretia Rudolph Garfield, who was born in 1832 on what was once the 50-acre homestead ... The oldest deed transfer that can be tracked was in 1824, when the property came into the possession of John Rudolph, Lucretia Garfield's grandfather ... It's not clear whether Lucretia Garfield lived in the house or another on the homestead, but Rodhe did find a letter dated 1859 that contains a reference to "Crete," her nickname.
