Bates, when Officer Joey Morrison arrived at the scene, a man identified as Brian Leslie Stout had been hit by a 1998 Nissan Frontier pickup truck driven by Jorge Fernandez Martinez, 40, of Hudson. Police reported that at approximately 8 :15 a.m., Eric Samuelson, 16, of 19 Sandy Beach Road, Middlebury, was traveling north on White Deer Rock Road when he lost control of his 2000 Nissan Frontier, traveled off the east side of the roadway near Ash Swamp Road and struck a utility pole, causing heavy damage.
