    Soaring costs are squeezing gas station owners too  Jun 10, 2008
    Pennsylvania-based Uni-Marts, which owned or supplied 283 convenience stores and gas stations, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court protection in late May, saying its cash reserves were drained by fuel costs. "The number of retailers on the brink of bankruptcy is now at a dangerous level," said Bill Douglass of Sherman, Texas, who owns 15 convenience stores and supplies fuel to 150 independent retailers.     Owners of 172 stores in the commonwealth sued Uni-Mart for "extensive and ongoing wrongful conduct," including the misrepresentation and omission of information in materials soliciting buyers for the stores.     The robber, who is being linked to a total of seven regional holdups, then moved on to the Shade Gap Mini Mart in southern Huntingdon County on July 28 before striking two Uni-Marts located in Ferguson Township, Centre County, and Warriors Mark the following day. The most recent robbery occurred on July 30 at 11 p.m. at the Snappy s Convenience Store at the Bald Eagle intersection, Blair County. (Fulton County News, PA)

    Kingston attorney Joseph Lach and the Philadelphia law firm of Berger and Montague filed the civil suit against State College-based Uni-Marts LLC, Chicago-based NRC Realty Advisors LLC, and Edison, N.J.-based Kuber Financial Services LLC in Luzerne County Court on Tuesday.
