Ricci goes from Jesus to Darwin Oct 14, 2008
Sitting in a bistro the other day in downtown Toronto, Ricci, who's 49 now, confessed he wanted to write a novel that somehow dealt with Darwinian theory ever since he read The Selfish Gene by evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins in the early 1980s. That book in some ways revolutionized the way I thought about humans, he mused over a demitasse of cappuccino. (Globe and Mail)

Rabbi Wolpe's 'Faith' takes on atheists and fanatics alike Sep 23, 2008
He was "infuriated" by a wave of best-selling books by atheists, including Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins, all glibly sure that God does not exist and that faith is for fools, he says. "What's so appalling is the idea that there is no mystery that won't yet be solved. That if we don't know it all yet, we will," Wolpe says. (USA Today)

The Royal Society is sadly unenlightened on creationism Sep 18, 2008
The demi-god of atheism, Prof Richard Dawkins, weighed in to say that he would wish to see the Royal Society "attack creationism with all fists flying" ... To market, to market Sep 7, 2008
I'm not keen, for example, on Richard Dawkins' atheist assertions, much as I admire him; he doesn't know, any more than anyone else does. And there's a more everyday kind that's been around for at least 25 years that seems to go almost unchallenged, and that's the conviction that the market will take care of everything. A difficult subject that s generally poorly treated even by such self-declared specialists as Richard Dawkins in his numerous books. The problem is that Darwinism (with selection, struggle for life, adaptation) is presented as evolution which it isn t. Darwin never talked about evolution and the mechanism in brackets actually referred to the 18th centuary British steel barons of which his wife s family was an illustrious example. Why not every scientist worships at Darwin's feet Aug 18, 2008
The leading atheist Richard Dawkins, speaking of this God delusion, as he calls it, offers a succinct summary of Darwin's theory. "Given sufficient time, the non-random survival of hereditary entities will generate complexity, diversity, beauty, and an illusion of design so persuasive that it is almost impossible to distinguish from deliberate intelligent design." The power of evolution to simulate the illusion of design, says Dawkins, is threatening to what he suggestively calls a "certain kind... (Sydney Morning Herald -- Opinion)

Scientist at Work | Edward Wilson: Taking a cue from ants on evolution of humans Jul 15, 2008
Many evolutionary biologists have been persuaded, by works like "The Selfish Gene" by Dr. Richard Dawkins, that the gene is the only level at which natural selection acts. Wilson, changing his mind because of new data about the genetics of ant colonies, now believes that natural selection operates at many levels, including at the level of a social group. Perhaps this is a good time to remember, as Richard Dawkins writes in The God Delusion, that it's not OK to disrespect non-believers when your own moral code is seemingly dictated by fear of retribution from a divine being - especially codes that have, as Onfray points out, allowed their various adherents to "plot terrorist attacks in Manhattan, launch punitive raids into the Gaza Strip, or cover up the deeds of pedophile priests". In studying genomes, the word 'selfish' does not refer to the human-describing adjective of self-centered behavior but rather to the blind tendency of genes wanting to continue their existence into the next generation.
